The Magic Coat Foundation, in collaboration with Perth Children’s Hospital, are raising funds to research the efficacy of The Magic Coat in reducing pre-operative anxiety in children.
A Magic Coat app is being trialled where, prior to their admission, children can see the journey they will take when they are in hospital. The app allows children to identify the feelings they have about each part of their journey and learn about which Magic Coat characters will help them manage each of these feelings at the various stages.
Once the research has been completed, it is anticipated the app and Magic Coat program will be expanded to further areas of the hospital to assist with children’s anxiety in hospital.
